They support their thesis by giving statistics about the pastics effects on the envionment and using emotional appeal to get you to take their side. They believe that this article will help show the negative effects of our pollution, in order to help us solve a larger problem and clean up our enviornment.The intended audience would be the general public because it is written to inform people of a growing problem.
